RelayDesk Web 2.1.7 Release Notes

RELAYDESK WEB RELEASE

Web 2.1.7 – Low-Memory Connectors

This release keeps Unified Threads while changing heavy services such as WhatsApp to an adapter-first resource policy.

What changed

  • Visible app marker updated to WEB 2.1.7 / RD1-217 – LOW-MEMORY CONNECTORS.
  • WhatsApp defaults to Adapter Only.
  • RelayDesk no longer treats a permanent WhatsApp Web tab as the normal architecture.
  • Temporary WhatsApp Web opens only after an explicit user click.
  • The low-memory mode persists locally in the browser.
  • Unified Feed, People and Unified Threads remain intact.

Architecture

WhatsApp account -> bridge/direct adapter -> RelayDesk normalization -> Combined Feed -> Unified Threads -> lightweight RelayDesk client. WhatsApp Web is a temporary fallback only.

Operational note

A Matrix WhatsApp bridge can remove the heavy browser UI from the client machine, but it still requires explicit user authorization and controlled testing. A dedicated test account should be used before broader rollout.
